Ohio Flèche

Note: This ride starts on May 3rd, and ends on May 4th in Columbus!  It is a team event, so don’t just sign up with out a team!   Full rules here: https://oh.randonneur.app/fleche-rules/

At this point, the teams that have contacted me are basically full. If you are not on a team and want to participate, you will need to form one!

Flèche: Team event – team consists of 3 – 5 bikes (tandem counts as 1 bike)

Date/time: Teams are to start Saturday May 3, 2025 between 7 and 8 AM. On Sunday May 4, 2024 we will meet for breakfast at the home of David and Lucy Buzzee, 1790 East Broad Street, Columbus OH 43203.

Duration: 24 hours

Distance: 360 k minimum

For the fleche results to be accepted, at least three bikes must finish together.

Teams: Anyone can organize a team. Normally someone assumes the role of captain, chooses the teammates and selects the team’s route. Ohio Randonneurs does not establish the teams but may be able to help with the route.

Route: May start anywhere, but must end at 1790 East Broad Street, Columbus OH 43203. Team receives credit for shortest bike navigable route between controls excluding limited access highways. Mapping software will be used to determine shortest distance. Additional miles may be required to avoid busy or otherwise unsafe roads. Route and starting time must be pre-approved by David Buzzee. Submit your proposed route and riding schedule electronically (d_buzzee@yahoo.com). The route is due two weeks before the ride to permit review and possible revision for safety reasons. The registration form and rider waivers are due two weeks before the ride. Each individual team member must register on the Ohio Randonneur web site, sign the waiver and provide contact information both for the rider and the person to receive messages about the rider.

For insurance purposes, riders must be current members of RUSA. No exceptions can be allowed.
